Financial Support

South Carolina Public Interest Foundation (“SCPIF”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to ensuring that South Carolina governments and agencies act in strict compliance with the state Constitution and laws. All donations of cash, property or securities are deductible to the extent permitted by law.

To preserve its independence SCPIF neither seeks nor accepts government funding or support of any sort. We are supported solely by the generosity of individuals, businesses, and foundations who share our vision of forcing the government to abide by its own rules. A donation to SCPIF is an investment in good government in South Carolina.

We recognize that there is always a price to pay for standing up against those in power, and SCPIF willingly accepts that burden. All donor information is therefore kept confidential to the maximum extent permitted by law. SCPIF is proud of and grateful to all those who courageously join with us in the fight against governmental illegality.

Submit a Case

SCPIF is always alert to instances of governmental illegality, and we welcome information from supporters, citizens, and reporters, as well as from government officials, employees, or contractors, which can identify potential cases for SCPIF to pursue. If you have any such information please contact us. We recognize that such information is often highly sensitive and that its disclosure could lead to reprisals, so we are committed to protecting the anonymity and confidentiality of our sources. We take the risk so you don’t have to.

Serve as a Named Plaintiff

In some cases it is useful or necessary to have one or more individuals, generally residents of the region involved, serve as co-plaintiffs in our lawsuits. If you are interested in volunteering to serve as such, either in a case you brought to our attention or otherwise, please let us know. In most cases SCPIF assumes all of the costs of the litigation it pursues.
